ESET Security Review

ESET offers a range of plans for Windows, macOS and Android. They offer a free plan which is ideal for security basics, while the more expensive plans include features such as password management and parental controls and data encryption. The most expensive plan includes a gaming mode to restrict access to your computer’s hardware while you play.

The program doesn’t take too long to install and setup is simple. It doesn’t burden your system with bloatware also. There are a few extra settings to tweak, but most tools and features are clearly listed on the left-hand sidebar.

A new feature, called Connected Home Monitor provides an efficient visual representation of your network and all the devices that are connected to it. It can also be used to scan for vulnerabilities such as open ports or weak router passwords.

Another unique feature is a pop-up message that appears each when you insert an USB storage device. You can scan your drive immediately or set it to scan automatically. If you don’t wish to scan the entire drive, you may run an on-demand scan.

Advanced users will appreciate the possibility to control the type and amount of much the suite scans. You can specify the number of folders, files and specific items that the program is going to check. You can set the depth at which the program will scan archives if you wish to block certain types of files.
