eset security review
ESET’s suite offers the most value for money. Its malware detection rate is close to being perfect and the suite comes with an array of useful features with a tiny footprint. The premium version includes parental controls, a secure browser, and a password manager as well as the Android package comes with a theft prevention feature that can help you locate your lost phone. The network protection features are as well, with a firewall and an option to scan your home devices for security issues.
SysInspector is a standout tool. It creates a snapshot and highlights important Registry entries and running processes. It can be a bit intimidating for beginners. However, if are familiar with task managers such as the ones found in Sysinternals Process Explorer, you’ll feel at ease.
Another excellent feature is the ability to schedule on-demand scans. This is a nice alternative to real-time scanning, and it’s quick and easy to accomplish. It’s a pity ESET does not group it with other scheduling tasks and its UI makes it somewhat more difficult to locate than their competitors.
Other important features include a powerful form filler for online banking, a powerful spam filter that gets the highest scores in our tests, and a capable password manager that’s easy to use. The password manager is only available in the premium version, and requires an ESET account, however it works just as well as the standalone solutions I’ve tested.
